We are in a year of what the world would call social and political unrest. The nation is becoming more polarized than we have seen in recent history, and Christians are starting to wake up and take a stand for what is right.
As we stand up for biblical principles and pray against evil, as Pastor Hank has been ministering about, we need to keep our eyes on Jesus. Matthew 6:33 (NLT) says, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
I was at a Christian movie recently and a line in the movie really resonated with my wife and me. Matthew the Apostle was speaking to someone about following Jesus. and they asked him how he knew when to write down what Jesus was saying and doing. The response by Matthew was to the effect of, “I just keep my eyes on Him, and He lets me know what to do.”
I think we can all take that to heart as we watch what has been going on around us. If we keep our eyes and attention on Jesus, He will lead and guide us to fulfill His great plan.
The next question that you might be thinking could be, “How do I keep my eyes on Him?” There are times in our Christian walk when we are dry, and don’t feel like we are hearing from Him. How can we get a word from the Lord when we don’t feel like He is speaking to us?
The answer is simple, He left His word for us. He speaks to us from His word all the time. The Bible is a timeless book. The more we fill ourselves with His word, the more we can hear from Him. We just need to make the effort to read His word, pray and listen. Psalms 46:10 (NLT) says, “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
Take time today to read His word and talk to Him. Then be still, listen, and know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that His plans for us are for His good.
