Life More Abundantly

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

Pastor Hank’s recent messages about the No-Fly Zone have really had me pondering what it means to live life more abundantly. It can be easy to let ourselves get caught up in the busyness of life and resign ourselves to simply accepting whatever problems and issues come our way. How often have we found ourselves stumbling through a trial, and offering no resistance to the circumstances because we had convinced ourselves that “that’s just life”? What would happen if, instead of simply accepting the circumstances of the next trial, we took authority over them? What if instead of expecting to live a life of lack, we began to expect to live a life more abundantly?

Jesus came and died so that we wouldn’t have to be victims of the devices of the enemy. Jesus came so that we could take authority over satan, yet so often we let the devil walk all over us. It’s time to stop tolerating subpar and start claiming abundance. We have been put on this Earth to accomplish a lot for the Kingdom of God; there’s no reason we should be letting the schemes of an already-defeated enemy slow us down. The Bible says that there will be trials, but we should be ready to overcome them armed with the Word and with an understanding of the covenant that we have with our Heavenly Father.

So, as I look back at John 10:10, I am reminded of the kind of life that God wants us to live. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to start living in the fullness of life that God promised us. I’m a joint heir with Christ; I have a blood covenant of preservation and an assurance policy with the Most High God … it’s about time that I started living like it.
