If you’re like me, one of the things I love most in life is going on an adventure! I think most of us do because the Lord has put within us his sense of exploration, creativity, and wonder.
One type of adventure I really enjoy is to be up in the sky. I’ve been up in a hot air balloon, various airplanes, a helicopter with the doors off, and even the actual Goodyear Blimp! One thing all of those have in common is that as you rise high in the sky, it gives you an incredible vantage point to see a great distance very clearly.
That reminds me about something that Pastors Hank and Brenda have been recently sharing; that is, for us to keep our gaze toward heaven, and for us to look to the Lord instead of looking at the circumstances around us.
As we see what the Lord sees, then our spirits are encouraged because he always has a perspective of help and hope. As Jeremiah 29:11 says, “`For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. `They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’”
We also see where perspective plays an important role in Mark 4 with the parable to understand all parables. The seed was the same seed that fell on the four different types of ground. May we be found as those with good seed that flourishes rather than those who are looking at things such as the worries of this world.
In a similar way, Jesus said to Martha that Mary chose wisely when Martha questioned him about Mary spending all her time listening to him at his feet, instead of being distracted with concerns. I pray that we also choose wisely as we set our hearts on the Lord instead of our concerns.
Each day presents us with many things that are clamoring for our attention, but as we choose to look to our Lord, and spend our time with him, we will see that a marvelous adventure unfolds for us each day.
